Frequently asked questions

Q.  Why do you need donations?
A.  Donations help to pay our field recruiters (all of whom are veterans) to help fellow veterans qualify for and land specific jobs.  Donations also pay for sourcing specific job opportunities.  Donations cover the costs of training, orientation, specialized equipment and ongoing support to ensure veterans' success on the job.

Q.  Does Veterans2Work receive government funding ?
A.
V2W receives no government money or grants. Our service programs are sustained by individual contributions such as yours.

Q. Your service programs for disabled veterans overlap or duplicate government programs.
A.
Actually, that's not so. V2W programs are designed to do what government agencies can't: work directly with businesses to devise and deliver highly competitive business solutions.

Q.  Why, then, don't corporations pay for the services?
A
.  Employers do their part by hiring the employees.  Sometimes, corporations have money in their budgets to pay for our recruiting costs, but often this is not the case. We don't want to limit our opportunities to place vets in good jobs by a company's ability to pay, so we need donations to cover these expenses.

Q. My gift of $10 or $20 won't help!!
A.
We depend on gifts of $10 or $25 -- whatever you can give.  These gifts do make a difference. Small gifts add up!

Q. Is my donation tax deductible?
A.
Yes. V2W is a sponsored program of MarinLink, a tax-exempt (501(c)(3)) organization, and all contributions are tax deductible.

Q. Is V2W approved by watchdog agencies?
A.
V2W, through its sponsor, MarinLink, meets all standards for legitimate non-profit organizations. MarinLink is approved by the leading consumer agency, the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance.

Q. How much of my donation goes to help disabled veterans?
A.
In this first year we are mostly building our program capacity. We need funds for hiring paid staff, developing programs, building systems and market outreach.  Our goal in the next year is to be able to apply at least 80% of all contributions directly to program services.

Q. How does V2W differ from other organizations, such as Disabled American Veterans, Paralyzed Veterans and EPVA?
A.
V2W's focus is on working directly with businesses to create jobs for disabled vets and their caregivers. DAV, PVA, and EPVA are separate organizations. DAV focuses its attention exclusively on the needs of all disabled veterans, regardless of their disability. The PVA serves only those with spinal cord injuries.  We serve the full spectrum of disabled veterans, including amputees, blind veterans, and those suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injury.
